This quick and easy homemade granola recipe features delicious flavors and less sugar then the store-bought varieties!
Granola, a sweet crunchy topper that most of us can agree tastes pretty delicious. Sadly it can be hard to find a quality one that isn’t just all sugar. Now I love sugar, but I think finding better alternatives is basically the game when it comes to feeding ourselves. Granola is a great example of a food you can make yourself at home without a lot of effort and can pick what and how much of your ingredients you want in your granola.
You basically throw everything in a bowl and then toss it on a pan and toast away. Now that doesn’t get any easier, does it? Nope! The other bonus to granola is that you can throw whatever you want in it, okay, maybe not anything. But in general you can pair any of your favorite toppings like nuts, coconut, oats, spices, and even dried fruit or chocolate. You can’t really go wrong with a little chocolate!
This cinnamon vanilla granola is really all about simple flavors. Not a lot of fuss, but a lot of crunch and flavor with a little sweetness. The other bonus to this recipe is that it features loads of healthy fats from avocado oil, flaxseeds, and chia seeds. Yes you are reading another recipe where I put those tiny little seeds in it. And I have more😂! This recipe also has avocado oil, again because I love it, but you can substitute it for coconut oil as well.
Why my obsession with chia and flaxseeds? Honestly it is just one of those ingredients that I feel like can be easily incorporated into a variety of recipes and it adds a ton of nutrition. It may be in part to the fact that my main job is as a dietitian. So my mind is always thinking about food, like all the time. I wake up and make notes in my phone about recipe ideas or food topics. I am slightly obsessed, in a mostly good way though!
I would love to know if you incorporate chia seeds or flaxseeds and how, and if you don’t let me know if you want to know more about them!
